Overview
The U.S. Consulate General in Chengdu serves southwestern China — Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou, Yunnan and Tibet. The consulate covers some of China's most geographically and ethnically diverse territories, from Chengdu's rapidly growing tech economy to Yunnan's border regions and the Tibetan plateau. Sichuan province alone has a population exceeding 80 million, and the Chengdu-Chongqing economic corridor is one of China's fastest-growing inland markets. American companies are active in the region's automotive, technology, agriculture and energy sectors.
Visa Services
The consulate processes nonimmigrant visa applications for Chinese residents of Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou, Yunnan and Tibet. Categories include student (F/M), business/tourist (B1/B2), exchange visitor (J), and work visas. Appointments are scheduled through the official visa appointment website.
Consular Services
American Citizen Services (ACS) provides passport issuance and renewal, Consular Reports of Birth Abroad, notarial services, and emergency assistance for U.S. citizens across southwestern China. The U.S. Commercial Service in Chengdu supports American companies in southwestern China's rapidly developing economy.
