UK visa applicants resident in northern Italy use the VFS Global UK Visa Application Centre in Milan for biometrics and document submission, with decisions issued by UK Visas and Immigration. The British Consulate-General at Via S. Paolo 7 in central Milan supports that visa work and provides consular services for British nationals across Lombardy, Veneto, Piedmont, Liguria, Emilia-Romagna, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Trentino-Alto Adige and Valle d'Aosta — passport renewal, notarial services, emergency assistance. The case mix is shaped heavily by tourism: Milan, the lakes (Como, Garda, Maggiore), Venice, the Dolomites and Cinque Terre attract very substantial British visitor numbers, and theft of passport or money in busy tourist areas (Venice piazzas, Milan transit hubs) is a recurring reason for contact.
