Overview
The Nigerian High Commission in Pretoria anchors one of Africa's most strategically important bilateral relationships. Nigeria and South Africa are the continent's two largest economies; the relationship covers African Union and South-South diplomatic coordination, substantial bilateral trade and investment (MTN, Multichoice, Shoprite among major South African investments in Nigeria; Dangote, GTBank and others on the Nigerian side), and a substantial Nigerian community resident in South Africa. The High Commission is supported by the Nigerian Consulate-General in Johannesburg.

The High Commission provides passport issuance and renewal, civil-status documentation, document legalisation, notarial services, and emergency consular assistance to Nigerian nationals in South Africa.

The High Commission's commercial section supports the dense bilateral economic relationship — Nigeria-South Africa trade and investment is among the largest intra-African economic flows — and works on African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) implementation and broader bilateral commerce.
