Iceland Embassy in Madrid

Embassy of Iceland in Madrid, Spain

Overview

The Embassy of Iceland in Madrid is Iceland's embassy in Spain, headed by Ambassador Mr. Kristján Andri Stefánsson. The embassy is located at Calle de Marqués de la Ensenada 2 in central Madrid. Iceland and Spain are NATO allies and EEA/Schengen partners with growing bilateral ties in tourism, trade, and renewable energy. Spain is an increasingly important source market for visitors to Iceland — direct flights connect Madrid and Barcelona to Keflavik, and Iceland has become a popular destination for Spanish travellers seeking Northern Lights, volcanic landscapes, and Arctic adventure. The embassy also serves as Iceland's accredited mission to Peru. Honorary consulates in Barcelona, Bilbao, Las Palmas, Palma de Mallorca, Orihuela Costa, Sevilla, Valencia, and Vigo provide local contact points across Spain.

Visa Services

Iceland is a Schengen and EEA member. Spanish citizens and all EEA nationals travel to Iceland freely under EEA freedom of movement with no time limit. For nationals of countries requiring a Schengen visa, applications are coordinated through the embassy. Standard Schengen documentation applies.

Consular Services

The embassy provides passport services, identity document processing, civil registrations, notarial services, and emergency consular assistance for Icelandic nationals in Spain.

Service Area

The embassy covers the entire Kingdom of Spain and is also accredited to Peru. Honorary consulates in Barcelona, Bilbao, Las Palmas, Palma de Mallorca, Orihuela Costa (Alicante), Sevilla, Valencia, and Vigo provide local first-line contact.
